I founded Ripley Layne in 2013 to help men and women experiencing hair loss. Since then, we’ve helped hundreds of people smile and regain their confidence.

I have been helping people experiencing hair loss for over 20 years. In that time, I’ve witnessed the transformational power of contemporary hair loss treatments and the way it can change people’s lives for the better.

I understand how the experience of hair loss can leave people feeling less confident and less like themselves. Hair loss can impact happiness, self-esteem, and quality-of-life. That’s why I love helping people through hair loss and making them look and feel their best. There’s a moment when you finish someone’s hair—it’s a smile and a look in their eyes—you see their head held a little higher on the way out. I love that feeling.

I’ve always been in-tune with the emotional aspects of hair and how it makes people feel.

For many, hair loss can be a daunting experience. That’s why I make every effort to make people feel comfortable, listened-to, and safe. For some, hairdressing can be a kind of talking therapy; talking about hair loss becomes part of the solution; I have a good ear, ready to listen when my clients open up about their hair or life-in-general. Sometimes a cup of tea can do wonders.

When I was younger, I trained to be a nurse, but I switched to hairdressing when I was 18 years old. I had a passion for hairdressing and discovered early on that I was particularly good at it. I started winning regional competitions and six months into my first job I was promoted to salon manager. A few years later, I was styling hair for Leeds United footballers and the cast of Emmerdale. For the first ten years of my career I chose not to specialise, instead opting to practice the full scope of hairdressing techniques — from professional hair studios to backstreet barbers. Eventually, I began working with a global hair loss solutions company — I was instantly hooked. I loved the impact that hair loss treatment had on people’s lives; the way it made people feel. I had found my calling.

Unfortunately, the companies I worked for lacked the compassion necessary for hair loss treatment, they put profits before people and I soon became disheartened. The lack of emotional care and support for customers was inadequate. When one particularly heart-broken client fell into depression after spending all their savings on an ill-suited hair-system, I decided I had to leave. I made it my mission to set up a people-centric hair loss treatment service that put the emotional needs of the client first. I started Ripley Layne.

Seven years on, we’ve helped hundreds of people feel happier and regain their confidence.
